Seems like an interesting process. Doing 3d renders is so weird: the final result is still a 2d image but you're essentially doing it by proxy, so getting things to look appealing can be really hard. It's a good attempt at a likeness considering all the technical challenges.

UrnSudden responds:

DEFINITELY! Like, a lot of the things that are tough in 3d are easy in 2d, and vice versa. For instance, perspective isn't thought about at ALL in 3d except adjusting the model's placement, and looping tiled patterns are super easy as you can fine tune its shape and size by just adjusting some numbers, but getting the contours of a face and setting up lighting has at least twice as much work involved because of the extra dimension. Not to mention resolution bogging everything down when it comes time to render.

Thanks somuch!!1!

Your words here kind of stayed with me for a while after seeing this on the front page. I think it's a strong statement and fits the picture in a subtle way... The girl appears timid and gloomy but we can sense a powerful determination. Good job!

DeadSM responds:

I'm glad I could create something that stays with you for a tiny bit. Art is hard and it demands diligence and time. Comments like this help tell me that the sacrifice is worth it.

Amusing animation!

thank you! it took a while to make each sprite haha

Taking a creative break has benefits, the new vibes in the composition here are pretty exciting! I like the subtle red/green too.

BoJustBo responds:

It's not a creative break if you're in creative prison :P

This picture is actually a throwback to a style I did around 2008.

I've been thinking about the same thing. It's difficult to shake the notion that you should know what you're doing. But once you do you can work much better.

UrnSudden responds:

Bonus difficulty in pixel art, I'd imagine! That style (love your work btw, real crosshatched, almost pen-and-ink) almost necessitates deliberation. I suppose you could make a random silhouette in grey using loops and bools, and pull things out of it, but random gradation is where I feel I got the most workable stuff, in this at least, and dithered shading is where most of the pixel vibe lives, I think. So it'd end up being a more difficult balancing act.

Nice rendering!

Skyrore responds:

thank you very much!
